Travails of Travel- a salesman's hack

Salespeople come in different shape and size. Most of us- have humble origins and even though we charge forward and climb the different hierarchy- we remain at heart simple people with simple needs. There will be the flashy ones--- ahh the glamour oozes from them.
But today I will talk about the ones who are their in field and who bring the bacon home for their companies. at different stage of their career they will be the one- whom you may call as miser but they will actually be against any wasteful expenditure. Most salespeople I know, admire and respect have this trait- get things done , cut the unnecessary things out.
And they enjoy while doing it.
Some Sales people that I have come to admire for sheer power of closing and doing the heavy lifting without a sign of tremor- does it with right heart.
Personal comfort comes always last for us. for the outside world- the frequent flights, snazzy sounding hotels and 5star treatments- seems like perks. But for us- it is just reaching there on time with a clean shirt on our back and a uncreased pant with a shining shoe matters the most. Clinching the deal is important- the good food with client-- we donot focus. The negotiation outcome is important, the value we sold was what i remember after every deal- not the commission i made. Finally the star sellers-really require the good bed to sleep. So that next day- he can start fresh- a new day to win.A good and great sales person differentiates by being consistently humble and getting things done. The rest all traps- exotic locales for sales conference, flying miles, hotel points-- are just- peripherals.
A red eye flight, then pulling self to meet custoemrs- 2 at a time, then having awalk to keep self fit-- all in days work. on the way- study people, see the world- and appreciate how beautiful it is and what i did today to make it better tomorrow. That's all matters to the sales man.

Daringly towards 2020

This post is late... Really late..  the words were forming in mind sometime during the last two weeks of 2019. I had amazing time on the banks of Ganges , valuating what I did right and evaluating what needs to be done. 2019 was one of those amazing years.. full of positive things and a rare heartbreak. Anyways I don't care much about heartbreaks.when you have a rich experience in that field called rejection and failure. Once you start seeing good in every situation, inner peace is attained. The year helped me to sign off a professional role with aplomb and start a new one with trepidation but with gusto. 2020 ... I know will be a landmark year which will define my next 10 years... Something similar to 2010. These tectonic shifts that happens with me are always phased in a pair. 99-2000, 2009-10, 2019-20 will also follow the same trend of.positivity... I am sure. 89-90.. that pair of years... My first brush with learning leadership. However 99-2000 made me strong ..It was literally tampered with fire..And now it seems so far. You can laugh off.
2020 comes with promise of learning new stuff more... More interesting customers problems to solve. All the while doing what I like. Solving problems and selling solutions.  But maybe I will pray more often for peace and good for all. Maybe I will not.only wish but see more.love going around. Because if you wish love and peace it has magical.way of coming back to you.
