I never thought ever that we will have to record such days ever. Unimaginable.
When it was January and I went to HK and Singapore-- there was this talk of SARS like virus. I remeber being in one HK restaurant and people gearing up for Chinese new year but short discussions and nervous laugh on a new virus. The most worrying stuff was the China president was taking it seriously and talking about it.So general consensus was this is going to be serious. But everything ok in Jan in India.Februaray- mid--the infection was starting to spread- and some limited steps taken in India.March 3rd- I even took a flight to viayawada for a customer visit. after returning the scare was real. The first case near home was reported.
Then the lockdown of 21 days was announced. before that ofcourse me and Birsa participated in banging the thalis...
So many firsts--- Railways got closed, flights got closed. Our office which was operating at 50% ( 1 week from home next week from office- split in 2 teams)- went full fledged WFH ( work from home). We geared up.. Amrita's ICSE exam duty took a break...Birsa's final exams-- postponed and eventually he got promoted without exam.
We took so many actions....All three of us started a full fledged disciplined routine. Birsa's routine was full of maths from beast academy, karate, piano, doing the work of school.I personally quickly adapted to new type of doing business. Directing the Asia wide team from home.It became more taxing.. more intense. and maybe more studies.Every plan moved from being planned face to face to virtual. Teams meetings, Zooms meetings... not only me but Amrita became completely expert at.
Amritas classes started and then Birsas.. the problem was net bandwidth and we took measures to have multiple connections.
My office started operation again as 50% rule from June 1st--and all sacry way of operations started.
Yes the battle continues.. the infections are all rising and we are adopting all kind of measures.
But in midst of all- I found... we are stronger and closer. specially Birsa and myself discovered so many new things in computer coding, mathematics , history.
In short-- these days became a learning journey,, enriched life.
